Take online courses in the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate to gain fundamental knowledge and a 'big picture' understanding of the cutting-edge fields of genetics, genomics and personalized medicine. Complete two required fundamental courses and four elective courses based on your interests for a deeper emphasis on a spectrum of industry topics.
You may take individual courses of interest within the program or earn the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate by completing 2 core courses and 4 elective courses. Courses may be taken at your own pace online. The foundational courses must be completed in sequence before beginning your electives if you are working towards a certificate. Each course consists of online lecture videos, self-paced exercises, and a final exam. Lecture videos are presented in short segments for easier viewing and frequent self-reflection.
All courses are online, self-paced and available on-demand. Each core course is approximately 8-12 hours of lectures and 4-6 hours of exercises; each elective course is approximately 6-8 hours of lectures and 2-5 hours of exercises. When you enroll in courses individually, each course is available for 60 days from the date of enrollment.
New! We now offer the All-access Plan, which gives you the option to access all courses in the Genetics and Genomics program for an entire year.
You’ll earn one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for each course completed within this certificate program. CEUs cannot be applied toward any Stanford degree. CEU transferability is subject to the receiving institution’s policies.
You will receive a record of completion (certified PDF) via email upon completion of each course which contains your course history. The PDF is proof of course completion for reimbursement and can be requested at any time, on an as needed basis. Upon successful completion of all requirements, you will earn the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate.
